Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) Testing – COSHH Regs 2002 (as amended)

LEV Testing is the performance testing and inspection of LEV (local exhaust ventilation) which includes dust and fume extraction systems.

Every employer who provides equipment to control substances hazardous to health has a legal requirement to ensure that the equipment is examined and tested in order to comply with Regulation 9 of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH).The employer must ensure that local exhaust ventilation (LEV) equipment is maintained in an efficient state, is in efficient working order, is in good repair and must ensure that thorough examinations and tests of the system are carried out at least once every 14 months. The purpose of the examination is to provide an assessment of the dynamic performance and condition of the local exhaust ventilation system.

JTEC EnvironmentalThe employer must also keep a suitable record of the examination and tests for a period of not less than 5 years. This record should also include any repairs that are carried out as a result of the thorough examination and test.

JTEC Environmental can carry out a Thorough Examination and Test on any type of LEV equipment. This test and inspection
should be carried out at regular intervals, 14 months or less depending upon the process. The test and examination will provide
sufficient information to satisfy the requirements of the regulations and will include the elements listed below.
